Structure
The Association
GALEMO is a registered association for Holistic Learning according to Maria Montessori (ZVR number 517716648) for children aged 6 to 15. All parents of enrolled students are members of the association.
Our school is based on a didactic concept designed to span 9 years, thereby covering all compulsory school grades. Three school years each are grouped together into one learning group.
- up to grade 3: Primaria 1
- up to grade 6: Primaria 2
- up to grade 9: Sekundaria
A learning group typically consists of up to 30 students and is supported by two educators.
GALEMO is a private school with public status, which means that the school can issue report cards that are recognized within the public school system. Students do not need to take exams to advance to the next grade. Only when transferring to a different school may the receiving school require placement or entrance exams. (Transfer from schools with their own organizational statute to schools with a legally regulated school-type designation - revised 2018 - Circular No. 16/2018).
Parents are informed by means of the progress record ("Pensenbuch"/"Erfolgspass") and semi-annual information meetings. Upon leaving the school, a grade report is issued.
The organizational statute describes the goals and structure of GALEMO. It forms the basis for the school's accreditation and the granting of public status. It describes:
- Goals and tasks of the school
- Admission requirements for new members/students
- Qualifications and duties of the educators and the school leadership
- Activities of the Pedagogical Committee
- Curriculum
- Class hours
- Performance assessment
- Student self-administration
- Parent representatives
The Association Statutes set out the purpose, membership, and the bodies of the association along with their duties.
