Learning environment

Prepared Environment

The foundation for all learning processes is a didactically prepared, appealing, and relaxed learning environment that enables the child, out of their own motivation and in keeping with their inner developmental plan, to actively acquire various learning content. Children are offered a wide variety of materials through presentations, designed to support the development of an understanding of the world in the broadest sense and to foster the learning of cultural techniques and forms of practical life skills across all sensory levels.

Another essential part of the prepared environment is the educator. He or she supports and accompanies the children in their development, offers activities that match the child's developmental plan and motivation, gives help where it is wanted, and stays in the background when children have no need of him or her.

Outdoor Facilities

In the garden (1,200m2) of GALEMO, there are:

  • Herb and vegetable garden with greenhouse and raised beds (used especially for lessons)
  • Areas for ball games and gymnastics exercises
  • Animal enclosures

The garden is meant to serve as a learning landscape,

  • to gain or apply knowledge in the fields of botany, zoology, and chemistry
  • to grow vegetables, herbs, and fruit for preparing snacks and possibly for lunch
  • to discover and practice a wide range of possibilities for movement and sport
  • Parts of the garden are also meant to enable learning outdoors.
