Laughter and Magical Sounds for a Good Cause

An evening full of humor and music that moved hearts and opened doors: on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, a benefit event of superlatives, organized by and for the GALEMO school, took place at the Babenbergerhalle. An evening with prominent support, where the motto "Kleinkunst macht Schule" ("Cabaret Sets an Example") became not only the program, but also an impulse for generosity.

The stage in the nearly sold-out hall belonged to locally based stars of the Austrian cabaret and music scene: Klaus Eckel and Die Strottern. Alongside them, the artist duo Wiener Blond was also engaged for the good cause.

Die Strottern, namely Klemens Lendl and David Müller - the latter an enthusiastic GALEMO father - opened the evening with their wonderfully sensitive, woven soundscape of new as well as familiar Viennese song lyrics. Afterward, Klaus Eckel, likewise a GALEMO father and winner of the 2019 Austrian Cabaret Award, significantly picked up the pace. Thanks to his sharp-witted verbal barrage, the hall now shook not only with applause but also with laughter. The audience was thus ready for the cheeky lyrics and modern loops of Verena Doublier and Sebastian Radon, Wiener Blond. For them, the evening marked a special premiere, as the band performed in Klosterneuburg for the first time.

Not only the artists but also the sponsors from the region contributed to the success of the event. The municipality of Klosterneuburg supported the event together with Bäckerei Dacho, the restaurant "Der Floh," Blumen Glatz, and Wiener Städtische Versicherung. "Laughing makes you hungry" became the motto, and so guests were sent off after the successful evening with a gesture of gratitude and a sweet breakfast for the next morning.

In the end, it was an evening where everyone came out a winner!
